A long and complex travers in the heart of Lofoten.

Rulten is one of the most inaccessible summits in Norway. There are no easy routes to the east or the west summit. The east summit was first climbed in 1903, but the west summit was first climbed in 1955. Our IFMGA certified guides are ready to guide you to the summits either in one long push or over two days. The tour will depend on boat transportation and dry conditions, so we need to be flexible with the start time. Join us for an adventure to remember with midnight sun, stunning views and a spectacular alpine travers.

Itinerary:

This tour is long and we are depending on several factors.

The guide will talk to you early to make a plan for the climb. We recommend to do this as a two day tour and sleep on one of the summits. We will be transported to the shoreline below Rulten by boat and start our approach litteraly from the sea. The approach itself are a 2 hour hike up grassy hills and through some bushy sections.

The climb will mostly be scrambling with short sections with climbing. There will even be some downclimbing and probably some sections with snow. After several hours with climbing we will arrive at the East summit where we will decide if we want to keep moving to the West summit. To get to the west summit there are several rappels and a long ridge with scrambling and climbing. The terrain are complex and require good route-finding skills but will be worth it once you roll out your sleeping bag on top of the West summit.

There are several options for decent, but we usually scramble back some of the ridge from the West summit before we take 5 rappels down the N face. After the rappels we will hike down to the shoreline and our boat transportation.
