Stetind - South Pillar

Stetind offers long technical climbs such as the classic and amazing south pillar for the experienced climbers. It was first ascended in 1936 by the Norwegian climbing legend and philosopher Arne Næss. The south Pillar of Stetind is rated 5.10 and is a demanding climb in a high alpine environment.
If you’re looking for a long aesthetic rock climb with splitter cracks and solid granite look no further than the South Pillar of Stetind. Located at the head of Tysfjord, Stetind dominates the sky line with its unique shape and sharp lines rising straight up from the fjord. This climb will take you thru a magical coastal forest, then alpine lakes, too a clean granite pillar with sustained fun climbing all the way to the large flat summit!
Is this trip for me?
The South Pillar of Stetind is a physical demanding climb and requires climbers to be comfortable following Norwegian Grade 6 rock climbing. Please contact us if you have any questions on your skill level
The guide will contact you some days before to discuss the plan for the climb. You will meet the guide early in the morning at a given location you have agreed on. Usually the parking at the trailhead.
The approach are an approximately 2,5 hour hike up to the start of the climb.
The climb are 12 pitches up to grade 5.10.
The decent from are scrambling and one rappel down the SE ridge to Halls Fortopp where we hike down.

Stetind is on the mainland one hour south of Narvik. This means you have to take the ferry across Vestfjorden if you stay in Lofoten (approximately 4 hours from Svolvaer.
Mostly scrambling, but there is one short point with hard climbing. We will help you across this section with tight ropes and guidance.
Starting point is just south of the Stetind tunnel at the parking lot. Our guides will contact you with further information a couple of days before the trip.
High top mountaineering boots or alpine trekking boots, f.eks Scarpa Ribelle Lite.
If we have to cancel, we will refund you money or move the trip to another day.
