Stjerntind
An alpine summit with breathtaking views
If you want to summit the second hardest summit in Norway, we are happy to guide you there. The climb involves steep hiking from fjord, but you are rewarded with some of the most spectacular views Lofoten has to offer. Stjerntind is a wild summit in Lofotens wild west. The idyllic fishing village Nusfjord laying at the foot of the mountain just adds up the clichés we have to say about this one.
We start by the sea and hike up steep, grassy hills. When we reach the Rusta-Col you can for the first time spot the jagged crown of Stjerntind. The name is quite describing when you see the summit, meaning Star summit. After scrambling and traversing some exposed ledges, we put on the rope. First we climb 6 tricky pitches of climbing in a wild setting. From the false summit we walk to the base of the pointy main summit. Here we do a final pitch up to the narrow summit ridge. A short, but exposed scramble takes us to the summit point. There is barely room for more than 3 persons at the summit, and the view is one of the best you ever had.
The guide will contact you some days before to discuss the plan for the climb. You will meet the guide early in the morning at a given location you have agreed on. Usally the parking at the trailhead. The approach are an aproximately 2,5 hour hike up to the start of the climb. The climb are 6 short pitches up to grade 5.9. which are all climbed in mountaineering boots. The descent from the top done by rapelling down the route and hike down to the car.
